| | | Saying Hi and asking a favour! Cheeky, I know, asking a favour already!
Anyway I'm Mandy I have 2 collies and love walking in my local country parks and woods. I joined this forum as I have used the site several times before to identify things I have seen and photographed, and couldn't find in my books!
My dogs are well trained and I am a prolific poo picker! I feel so ashamed and angry when I see poo bags hanging in the tress and bushes
To the favour .. I an currently studying with COAPE and as part of that am doing a project about deaf dogs. I f you caould spare 5 mins I would be grateful if you could complete this survey. Deaf Dogs Survey
I hope this is allowed admins oh and you don't have to be a 'doggy' person to complete it, infact I need as many 'non doggy opinions' as poss |

| | | Re: Saying Hi and asking a favour! Hi and welcome to WAB Mandy,
I have filled out your survey but I am bias I am afraid as I owned a dog who became deaf later on in life (about 8yrs old).
She also went blind at 4yrs old.
She was a very well bred springer spaniel and we had her from a pup at 12 weeks old to 10yrs when she died.
I would touch her gently as to get her attention as she could not see or hear so didn't startle her, she would still play with a ball when she was blind by listening to it bounce so when she went deaf as well I would roll the ball so it touched her so she knew where is was.
We got round the problems and it didn't seem to bother her that much.
I couldn't let her off the lead in later life as before she went deaf I would clap my hands to let her know where I was but as she went deaf there was no way of letting her know where I was as she couldn't see either.
Hope this helps. |

| | | Re: Saying Hi and asking a favour! I did complete the survey I was a little shocked by one of the questions, tbh. Why in earth would anyone put down their dog if it went deaf?
Sorry, but to be truthful, I read this out to my OH, and he was pretty disgusted by this question. I won't repeat the conversation.
