| | | Hi from W Oxon Already managed to cause mayhem on one thread by mistakenly suggesting I spotted a rarity (in complete and total innocence) but as I am not a troll (not sure what those are, suspect they are not nice) I would like to introduce myself properly.
I live in a village between Witney and Woodstock. We are very fortunate to have a magnificent ancient wood (Pinsley wood) close by but have had to fight to preserve it as it is owned by Blenheim estate (as is most of the land around here) which wants to capitalise on whatever it can. This means that the surrounding fields are in danger of being turned into housing developments, very worrying.
We have had buzzards for a while and Red Kites are becoming a common sight. I have seen barn and other owls hunting and a couple of miles away there are fields where I used to watch lapwings a decade ago. Do miss them, wonder if they are still common elsewhere. Lots kestrels and other birds of prey too.
Sadly, as the rural areas are being built on we are ending up with having all the disadvantages of being in the countryside and the advantages are disappearing but there is still a lot to see and enjoy. Lots of deer, badgers and foxes, beautiful flowers and trees and the stars at night so plenty to be thankful for. |

Get a lot of light pollution here but thankfully the street lights get turned off due to spending cuts so its easier to star gaze, if you are willing to stay up late. Now that I have lost my furkid (the dog in the photo) I don't feel so motivated to go out late at night, specially in freezing fog etc. May get out to see the Geminids if the sky is clear, could be good |

The unfortunate events you experienced has been dealt with by the mods of this site.
A troll is a person who comes onto a site and starts an argument by throwing a piece of bait out and sits and watches the consequences.
Hope you have put it behind you and enjoy the rest of your time here enjoy the site..
