As a young person (almost 19 now) i've always found it hard to find people who share my interest in nature because it's just not what people my age seem to be into i guess. I've loved biology, mammals, insects, birds, amphibians etc since i was very little and i just want to say that I've appreciatd the nice wlecome and help with my posts and it's nice to feel like i have something in common with other people

Hi Lindsay

I'm pleased to hear you're enjoying your time here. There are certainly lots of like minded folk to 'chat' to on WAB, although it's a shame you haven't got any 'virtual friends' to share your passion with.

Maybe at some point in the future, you could join one of the WAB meets that take place throughout the year. You'd be made very welcome, I'm sure!
You never know, you could even make some new friends along the way.
WAB has members of all ages, so nobody gets left out here!

Welcome to WAB Lindsay,
I remember when I was your age I would go off camping up to Minsmere and spend time on the reserve and Dunwich cliffs and Westleton Heath or spend time at the Bradwell Bird obs.. At sixteen I would get a lift of my mum to Belhus country park early on a Sunday morning for a spot of birdwatching or I would go to rainham marshes (before the RSPB got it) and the Thames riverside. Great times but like you, I found very few people who were my age had the same interests. Didn't have the world wide web then so the only people you met were via meetings or at reserves.
You should find plenty of like minded people on here and as has already been said by sparklebug "The world would be a better place if more young people like yourself were in it!"

I felt that way for years - it seemed that no one in my local area cared about nature. Where I live, there's not much in the way of organised outdoor activities for young people, so they organize their own - drinking buckie in the parks mainly .

There are more people out there with an interest in wildlife than you might think - you just need to find them!
None of the people I know in 'real life' who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wildlife, are on WAB...yet. I will try my best to direct them here
