I've managed to put some photos in the Gallery - under the "Unidentified" section even though most of them are of beech trees. I took these pictures on 27.12.2006 whilst walking around Crickley Hill Country Park, Birdlip Hill, Nr Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Hope you enjoy them.

Re: Photos

Can I ask why you have put them into the Unidentified section of the gallery? Also if you don't want them to be moderated you should have entered them in the Forum section and also linked from either the Unidentified or the Forum sections into your post.

I'm testing out the system because I'm fairly new to this stuff.

Hi SR - if you copy the BB code - that is the text in the whitebox under your pic , you can paste it into your forum post and display the pictures here too. See the FAQ in the top right hand colum of the forum screen

Thanks for the tip Eeyore - will try that when I have a minute.

Yeah I know what you mean about the "big feet" thing and when allowed to grow almost unhindered, they do produce an enourmous root system that is twice the size of the tree canopy (at least!). They are a very majestic-looking-tree and the ones at Crickley Hill look amazing in the Autumn. The leaves turn to a beautiful copper/burnt gold colour that looks like fire set/frozen in time.

Good memories I hope. It is beautiful around that area, especially Cranham Woods further along the escarpment, heading towards Painswick/Stroud.

Re: Photos

Good to see your first photos. The Scrubs at Crickly Hill is a lovely little wood, I love wandering around there too.

Remember the Beech Trees at Avebury? Now that's what I call big feet!

Thanks - glad you like my photos.

Sure do - remember the black ash trees with their black buds? The main thing I love about Avebury is the number of crows that live in the horsechestnut trees near to the manor house. Some how they really give the place atmosphere. I feel another photo shoot at Avebury coming on - what do you reckon eh?
