Not so new, rather back

After around two or so years of not visiting the forum, I popped on tonight and having forgotten my old login rejoined.

A lot has happened since I used to come on here, I was made redundant, decided to turn a passion into a new career and re-trained in conservation while volunteering as a ranger, got qualified enough to become employed as a ranger and now am taking higher qualifactions while working as a ranger.

Also started a hedgehog rescue centre based from home.

So while I used to spend many hours photographing nature, bird watching and being able to afford all the toys, I now can afford nothing, don't get the time to photograph anything or sit on my bum birdwatching but do get to work in a rewarding job, get to hopefully make a difference, get to teach kids about nature and get to spend my evenings scooping up hedgehog poop.

Hi Charlie and welcome (back) to WAB. Nice story there, I did the same for a few years, started off as a volunteer NT warden which lead to full time paid Arborist job. BUT......Mortgage, family and food requirements forced me to go back to my original trade. So, I'm one of the saddos, working their butt off, I'm just thankful to be in a job.
You summed it up pretty well 'but do get to work in a rewarding job'
