| | Hello Folks! Hello Folks!
Is this the correct forum for new members to introduce themselves?
I've been a birder all my life. although of course I do like to see other wildlife as well. Born and bred in Warwickshire, I've lived in a lot of places, but now I have my very own house exactly on the borders of Montgomeryshire and the Shropshire Hills, and I love it!
I'm very pleased to meet you all! |

Roger | Thanks, Everyone!
I didn't notice the Hello section. Perhaps I should post there as well? |

I don’t think I’ve said much about the area where I live. I’m surrounded by wonderful hills that rise about 1000 feet above the valleys, and I love them with a passion too deep for words! However I’m glad to live in a valley because it is very much warmer in the winter, when the valleys are green but the hills I can see from my house are snow-capped.
We have lots of foxes and Badgers round here, but strangely I have only seen one deer. There must be more! There is a nature reserve on a particularly steep craggy hill above the village, and I am told peregrines nest there. I have heard them, from my own garden, but not seen them.
I’ve seen a raven in the village, and I had loads of siskins in the garden last winter, frequenting feeders hanging directly in front of the kitchen window, but our most iconic bird is the Red Kite. There are zillions of them a couple of hours to the west, but I have only seen two around here. The most recent was actually in my home valley. This is an area that they will spread to, given the chance! Whoopee! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
