Aye Aye

Hi folks

Your pictures are fantastic, I'll be sticking around for the next 20,000

I saw my first male Capercaillie at the annual count 2006 held at The Glen Tanar estate. I think we found only 17 males this year but it was an unforgettable day, and Chris Packham was there with us. And yes girls, he still looked lovely even after eight hours hiking through knee high heather

I live in a wee village called Kintore, it lies approx 20 miles to the west of Aberdeen. Anyone been to or heard of our local landmark, a hill called Bennachie? It's not a Munro but if any of you have been in this area you will have likely seen it.

I'm hoping for it to snow soon so that we can get snowboarding, I saw a gorgeous white hare last year at Glenshee and I hope to see some Ptarmigan this year too and maybe some reindeer if we make it over to Aviemore.

Re: Aye Aye

Hello Minime

A warm welcome to WAB.

I was up in the Fort William area a few days ago and the snow was conspicuous by its absence even on most of the high mountains. We had sunny, cold and frosty days rather than the grey and drizzly stuff down here in Essex so it was quite wintery. I hope it snows soon for you as those true winter landscapes up there are awesome.

Capercaillie? .... I have only ever seen one and that a top of a head for about 2 seconds!!

Richard

Hi Minime and welcome to WAB. Never been further than Edinburgh but it sounds beautiful where you live. There must be some really superb photography?

Re: Aye Aye

Hi Seajay,

I'm enjoying all the photographs on this site, but it's true that I have not submitted any of my own - I don't have a camera at the moment, and I'm busy learning about the countryside at college aswell as here at WAB, can't see me having any spare money to buy one for quite sometime So I'll just be satisfied with looking at the beautiful countryside for the time being and at yours' and everyone elses' photos Unless I get photos of Ptarmigan in which case, I don't care how bad they are I'll be submitting them!

Re: Aye Aye

Hi minime, welcome to WAB. Mountain Hare and Ptarmigan are my 2 favourite creatures especially at this time of year. I spent every saturday between January and April photgraphing them in winter plumage and coat before returning later in the year to see them in summer plumage and coat Heres a couple of pics I got:

I hope these encourage you to get some pics yourself!!
