Re: Hi all :)

Hi Anusha, and welcome to the site. Where does the name Kobi come from? A Great Dane. Do you take her for a walk or her you?

Does that make sense?

Hahaha...yes Boddie..i think i understood that! Kobi is a rescue dog and it was the name the shelter gave her... its jewish/hungarian in origin so i thought it appropriate to keep it although i'm not sure of its meaning. and luckily she doesnt need a lead where i live as i walk straight out of my tiny cottage into beautiful countryside, and no..she isnt her happiest on a lead ...but as shes a great dane cross (vet thinks crossed with doberman but she looks all great dane so hard to tell)...shes a couple of inches shorter thankfully...

Re: Hi all :)

Oh, I love huge dogs! Well, I love all dogs, but adore great Danes, Airdales (Oh you never see them these days!) Irish wolfhounds, ridgebacks. They are all so beautiful! And all a bit too much dog for me to handle, with my dodgy back!
But the best is a pack! The most I've ever had together is two, but to walk with friends who also have several, when they all get on ok, is wonderful! To be high on the hills with waves of dogs all round you is glorious.
Where would we be without them.
And Hi to Anusha and Riverbird. We've already been chatting, as I have only joined fairly recently myself, so didn't notice you were new!

Re: Hi all :)

Oooooh some dog lovers i see Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Airdales some beautiful dogs... and badgerwatch youre so right... being high on the hills with lots of dogs running free is magical. Its so sad when you see dogs on a lead that the owners cant or wont let run free to play with other dogs...they so love to play with eachother

Re: Hi all :)

And they nearly always work it out if the owners stay calm, I find. I did have one dog, a border collie-labrador mongrel, (best dog ever!) who tended to go in for a fight, but he never meant it, and never picked on dogs smaller than him, or timid. It was only the ones who said, 'come on then, if you're hard enough', so no one ever got hurt. His favourites were Irish Wolf hounds. (He was stupid!)
Mind you, I've never had a jack russell. You can clear a park with a good jack russell! I love them, but they are little devils.
And I have always found dogs are better off the lead, but always grab mine if I see one on a lead approaching, as I think it's not fair if it's not balanced.
