| | | Hello from West Wales Hi everyone,
I'm Clare and live in rural West Wales. Despite always loving nature I hated moving here as a teenager because it was just so rural. After going away to university I came to appreciate coming home to the quiet life and decided to settle here. When we finally found a house my partner and I set about creating a wildlife friendly garden with lots of ponds, native plants and some non native one that attract insects. We also have red kites flying over and hear them calling a lot. With the kites, the frogs 'talking' in the pond and the stream bordering the garden it's one of my favourite places to be.
I'm a big fan of all wildlife but especially hedgehogs, which we seem to be getting back in the garden again: Faeces ID help please As mentioned in the thread I've recently found out that we get otters coming up stream right past my house and along the garden. It's ideal for them as it's a little gorge that is quite overgrown so they can move about undisturbed. So I've been out in the garden a lot listening out for them. One appeared in my neighbours garden a few weeks ago and walked down the garden with her!
I look forward to getting to know the site and seeing you all around.
Thanks,
Clare
ETA: my partner is quite in to photography and my avatar pic is one of he took of a common lizard, taken last Saturday at Ynys Hir RSPCA reserve near Aberystwyth.

Lovely part of the world, West Wales. Used to visit the Aberystwyth/Tregaron area a couple of times a year in the 80s/90s. Must get back there one day. |

Nicola, I think I recognise you from FR! Lovely avatar shot. Was that taken at one of the feeding sites? We visit the Nant Yr Arian one near Aberystwyth from time to time. |
