It'll be great to hear how you got on with the boat trip - any luck with the dolphins & whales?
All the best,

Boat trip from Seahouses was fantastic!!!! I can thoroughly recommend it
Because of the tide our sailing wasn't until 11.15am. We set off and were soon out in the open sea and surrounded by lots of passing Gannets - some passing right over the boat. I love these birds and can spend hours just watching them fish and glide by - they're awesome
We sailed around a few of the islands and inlets and were told about the rescue of The Forfarshire by Grace Darling and her father in the mid-1800's (can't remember exact year off the top of my head - shame on me LOL). There were HUNDREDS of Grey Seals basking on the rocks and a few swimming around the boat which had stopped at this point to let folks see the seals and take photos.
Most of the breeding birds had left the islands by now - there were just a few Cormorants, Shags, Kittiwakes and Herring Gulls on the islands.
I had been hoping to see Shearwaters but there were none to be had....or Storm Petrels which I would love to see (don't know if it was the wrong time of day for them?). Lots of Gannets though and on the way back the skipper stopped the boat as there were a couple of dolphins swimming around. Unfortunately though they didn't show so poor Neil did not get to see any cetaceans on this trip Oh well....I'm sure there'll be plenty more opportunities in the near future on days off together. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
