| | | Hi, looking for help with giant african land snail Hi there,
I have had giant african land snails for about six years now. Whilst I was on holiday the friend that was looking after them dropped one and he had a large piece of his shell missing On my return i carefully covered the gap by placing the broken piece of shell back and securing it very gently with tape. The snail seemed to do well however through the day the shell has somehow fallen off and it now looks as though part of the snails insides are protruding significantly from the shell.
is there anything I can do or is it too late for the poor thing? |

I would sellotape a bit of transparent polythene with a few pin pricks through it, across, and then watch the snails behaviour. If it continues to behave normally it's OK, and the shell might start to heal, but if its behaviour is abnormal in any way. the kindest thing would probably be to kill it. |

| | | Re: Hi, looking for help with giant african land snail Hello Tyler. Try cutting a piece of plastic (food container quality is ideal) slightly wider than the gap. Apply super glue to the rim of the plastic and place over the gap.Eventually the shell should grow back. Hope that helps. |
