The main places I go are Poundhill/Queens Meadow/Brinken Wood/Highland Water/HurstHill/New Park/Plantation, Cadmans Pool/Old Sloden/Islands Thorns/Hampton Ridge, Anderwood/Burley Outer Rails/Beech Bed/Bratley Wood. But it can depend on the time of year & whats around. |

You can check their progress here: White Lion Meadow is the unlikely name of the car park next to Tesco's where the voles hang out. I saw one eating watercress on the 5th November, and I might have caught a glimpse of one today - something swam underwater along the bank, but the water was too muddy to identify exactly what was making the movement.
If you go at about 4 and wait very patiently, you might spot the odd one, especially if it's a warmish evening. |

Don't you think we all have an animal or plant that's a particular favourite? Like you and your dragonflies. Where are you based? Because there were some wonderful damselflies and dragonflies at Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton this summer. |

I'm based in Shrewsbury, but work all over the county. Haven't been to Fordhall Farm yet to my shame- but plan to next summer.
How did you get into voles?
hello alan, thanks for your welcome!
I'm afraid I've been very cheeky and been identifying a few dragonflies in the gallery. I'm sure I should have waited a while as a new member- but couldn't help it! |

| | | Re: hello from Shropshire! I've loved voles since I saw one as a child. Couldn't believe my luck when I moved to Whitchurch and found they were virtually on the doorstep! I'd really like to visit the Cromford canal, and also that place Derek Gow's just released 500 Water Voles, somewhere along the River Dore. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
