Hello from the Highlands

Hi folks

I'm living in Nairnshire with the local wildlife on my doorstep (and sometimes over it, for better or worse). I've stumbled upon you all while looking to see if anyone had spotted ospreys near us yet (brilliant thread, just what I was looking for). I've now spent the last hour browsing around the site when I should have had a hot date with the hoover.

We're still covered in snow here but it's giving in to the sunshine at last. It's great to read posts from people in places where spring is further on, gives me hope!

Welcome to WAB from a fellow Highlander.

Last Sunday I had a walk along the banks of the River Nairn, south of the Howford bridge, just south of Nairn itself. There were a few signs of Spring, White and Giant Butterbur in flower, Coltsfoot almost open and blossom budding on some trees. It's a great place to see Dippers as well.

Whilst I live down in the far south, I visit your wonderful part of the world at least 2 or 3 times a year.

Not sure about your name .... it kind of reminds me of one of the less pleasant experiences of the Highlands but I am sure you are very nice .

Thanks all for the lovely welcome. Richard, I'll try to be more pleasant company than my namesake, which is such a huge part of life up here that the name just sprang to mind. At least they bring the bats and swallows in!
