Hello from diapasonbill

Hello All,

I keep getting prompted in the dialogue box under the tabs because I have not really made any posts yet apart from 1 to say yes to the 2007 Calandar.

So here I am with only my lunch breaks available to view the site, since I have no online facility at home.

WAB is stunning! and so much info & pics that I have spent my time just viewing things.

When I have time I will shrink some of my photos & convert to jpg? and maybe put some in a post to see what people think of them.

Lunch is running out! so just time to say Thanks to you all for everything on the site.

Bill (working in Essex, Living in Suffolk)

Hi Bill nice to meet you. Lunch breaks are too short in my opinion. You should be given proper WAB viewing time! Get it written into your contract! He he! Julie

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Hi everyone and thank you all for your warm welcome.
Now to try and answere some of the questions and comments in your replies.

In response to Julie & Jaki - I do agree that lunchbreaks are not long enough to get through all the posts, however being a bit 'traditonal' in outlook, I feel that I should give a fair days work for my pay. So a nice thought but I dont think I'll ask for a rewritten contract.

D Nightshade (I like that) - Yes WAB is well worthwhile, and may it encourage more people to seek out the wonders of Britains natural heritage.

Hey Beryl, dont worry if you dont know how to pronounce 'diapason' - its the name of an Organ stop found on most Church & Theatre Organs - I added it to the front of my name when I joined a Virtual theatre organ forum and found they already had a 'Bill' registered so Inow try & stick with it as a user name. (I seem to remember seeing somewere that it means 'Loud and harmonius' I will leave you guessing if that describes me). (Just call me Bill).

Hi Deer Stalker, We will converse again sometime.

Hey Ian, I love your post - was it my spelling? - I never have a liquid lunch.
But I rather think it was visions of my lunch 'running out' (I only found half a maggot in my apple so that one did not run out!!!!!).

I will finish by completing the last bit of yesterdays post (Living in Suffolk and Working in Essex, I go past Mistley every day), (its on the Stour between Maningtree & Harwich) but the tide was low this morning so only Loads of Canada Geese and a few gulls were close in to the shore.

My Lunch is legging it again so bye for now.

Bill

course if you didnt waste all that time eating there would be no problem , I suggest it is renamed the WAB break so that people dont get ideas about consuming food when they ought to be online

welcome to wab btw bill

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Hello Bill

A warm welcome to WAB.

Is there still a large gathering of Mute Swans up there at Mistley/Manningtree in the winter? It is a few years since I did any birdwatching on the River Stour but I do seem to remember a large congregation in the winter months.

Enjoy the website. You are in good company here.

Richard

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Hi Everyone,
Its 'Bills Lunchbreak' again.
Thanks Alan, Dorcas, Susie, Eeyore, Cherrybee and Richew for your welcome(s).
Eeyore - I have to eat otherwise I may disappear from view when I turn sideways.
Richew - you were asking about the Mistley Mute Swans - Yes they are still there and resident, they dont even have to feed themselves since they are fed! also one black swan (cant remember the name but red beak with a white stripe near the end) and joining them earlier this year came 2 more black ones though I dont know if the are a couple or not.

On my way here this morning I saw what I'm sure was quite a number Lapwings in a field (well grassy area) alongside the road at Cattawade, but as often happens when I spot something interesting, I had been delayed in traffic so had no time to stop, this was followed closely by a fine view of sheep grazing on the frost covered marshes.

Oh dear lunch break over again.
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Bye from Bill.

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

I am afraid I don't get much time at lunch to surf so I do mine in the evenings....I send the other arf down the pub and get stuck in. He is getting worried about the number of times I send him out.

Have a great time diapasonbill surfing the site, i think you may have to have longer lunch breaks ;-)

Debbie

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Hi Cherrybee,

Thanks for the info, still a lot to learn about names & identities of birds, I've always enjoyed having them around, but until I started taking photos again earlier this year, I could name very few of them, but I'm getting better.

And to Debbie,

Cor! your other 'arf ain't 'arf lucky!!!! ('ave I put all them there 'postrophes in the roight place?)

I noticed your location, sounds fab. the only Islands I have visited when in Scotland were Mull - about 10 days camping (I will always remember the brown peaty water out of the tap on the camp site!!!!) plus a day over on Iona & I loved every moment even the horizontal rain.

Thanks again Bill.

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Welcome to the site.
I must admit I checked up on you!
I noticed you had several posts and wondered how many lunch breaks you'd had in a day but the fact that they are dated and timed saved you.
If you send a letter to Santa perhaps you will be able to go on line in the evenings and days off too - but be warned this site is addictive.

Question Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Hi Bill,
Welcome to WAB. I'm a new member too and am already addicted. Are you interested in all things wild or have you got a particular passion?

Re: Hello from diapasonbill

Gosh its almost the weekend again. Sorry folks, I have not been ignoring your messages its just that other things have kept me busy.

Thanks for your welcome Little Firewall, yes all my posts are made about the same time but on different days as only one lunchbreak per day.

Peduk & Odonata - Thank you both for your welcome and I'll take this oprtunity to welcome you both also. My Interests are pretty general but with too little time to follow them. Weekends for most of the year are taken up trying to keep a large garden under control, this does give rise to quite a number of wildlife sightings and also the wild flowers that just appear thanks to the birds and other animals transporting them around area.

Its Autumn Leaves time of year, I have collected over 75 Gallons (volume) of fallen leaves from the grass already this year and am busy sieving last years to free up the composting containers for the rest of this years leaves, so have some close contact with worms and a few interesting clusters of a grey brown maggot with bristles - no idea what they are but I transfered them complete with leafmold into this years leaves. Who knows, if they survive I may have a garden full of flies next year.
Some wildlife seen in the garden includes Grey Heron (almost emptied the pond within a week a couple of years ago). Pheasant, Munkjak deer (I think its them that always bite off the first frond of my tree fern each spring since I have found the droppings around it) also bats (so I built a bat detector kit), frogs, toads.

I've run out of lunch break!!
Have a good weekend every one.

All the best from Bill.
