Welcome to wab.
Horsey is a good place to see grey seals especially when they are pupping.
If you get a chance head up to salthouse beech with your camera and at the moment you should be able to get some good pictures of Snow Buntings (approx 100 at present) and Turnstones, both feeding in the car park.
Cheers David |

Cheers for the tips David, Been horsey twice now (pic above) and couldn't see any seals, to be fair tho i didnt walk along the beach so maybe they are further down from the parking area? Weeknd looks like it aint gonna be gd so maybe i'll head up to salthouse next week and hope the snow buntings are still around |

I just joined this site! So I am a new Wabber too. I think I saw a mink this morning and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about them.
I bet Norfolk is a great place to explore, I don't know it well as I live in Surrey! Enjoy.

| | | Re: Hello :) Hi Joe and a big welcome from me. I love the beach shot too - it's a cracking picture. One quick tip for the zoo visit. If you select a large aperture on your camera, (large aperture = low number!) and focus carefully on your subject, you will magically make the bars or wire mesh on the enclosures disappear. Good luck - Wizzo

From Horsey gap head east either along the beach, (which is closed when the seals are pupping) or on the path from the car park behind the Dunes. You'll find access to the beach about half a mile from the car park or just past this access you will find a set of steps that takes you to the top of the dunes and a viewing area for when the beach is closed. Also take your telecope if you have one and try a bit of sea watching. Saw both Black and Red throated diver close in last time I was there. This whole area is also good for migrants.
The seals are normally on the beach near the rock groynes which are numbered and they seem to be around groyne numbers 35 to 42.
Was up at salthouse on Wednesday and you should get good pictures of snow buntings (about 50 now) and turnstones (a couple of dozen). Both seem to be hanging about and photogenic.
Hope this helps.
Have a good time, cheers David |
