Hi and HELP!! The Spectacles of Natural History Documentaries

Hi everyone,
I’m in my third year of university and in the middle of my dissertation. My subject is how natural history documentaries provide a spectacle for a 21st century audience. What is it that really makes the audience go "wow"? Were wildlife documentaries as spectacular back in the day?
It would be great to get some feed back to see what you think. Thank you!

Good luck with the dissertation. Perhaps you should have a questionnaire to quantify the responses to your question. I must tell you that I found Wild China to be a superb series because of the fantastic photography, the scenery and footage of creatures I'd never heard of. I'm not uneducated, having been brought up by a university biology lecturer, having watched loads of wildlife documentaries as a child and going on to obtain a degree in biology and geography in the '80s so I was very surprised to find that a new wildlife series could be so enthralling. I'd be interested to see the results of your enquiries!
