| | Hi everyone :) Hi everyone,
i am originally from Birmingham, lived in Bristol for the past 6 years and am now travelling and working in Canada for a year with my husband, who is also a new member of this site. I have an interest in wildlife and nature, especially moths and butterflies. I like photography, although have not too much experience with it and am very keen to get into the conservation sector workwise.
I've been in Canada since June 17th and its a beautiful country, especially the Rocky mountains - the camera was out all the time! I do however miss the British wildlife and country lanes (as well as family and friends of course) but this is a great adventure so far.
bye for now |

| | | Re: Hi everyone :) thanks for the warm welcome. I wish i could post some of the wildlife pics i have taken recently but i feel they wouldn't be appropriate as they are of canadian wildlife, and i am assuming this site is for British wildlife and nature only, going by the address!! Well when i get back to Britain, i will be posting lots.
I have to say the pics in the gallery are a very high standard! |

A warm welcome to WAB.
I have never been to Canada but the scenery and landscapes always look so stunning on TV or in photos. Having said that, I know what you mean when you say you are missing the UK.
Enjoy the website.

| | | Re: Hi everyone :) Hi there, peppermint. A very warm harty welcome to WAB, The Wonderful, Wacky World of Wildlife. Folks here are saying it's cold but I would say that where you are, it's Cold. Most folks are softies these days, still, roll on Winter, let's have a right good freeze up for once.

| | | Re: Hi everyone :) Thanks Earth Hart for the warm welcome....warmth is definatly needed here in Canada!! The weather here in Calgary is so random though and i think its because of the close proximity to the Rocky mountains (1 hour drive west). One day it will be lovely and sunny and be about +10 degrees, the next its snowing and -15! Haven't ventured out the house yet today, its only 7.30am so am yet to see what awaits. I'm guessing its still really icey and cold.
Myself and Chris (Onionade) are going to try and take full advantage though as we have interviews today at the Canada Olympic park (where the winter olympics were held in 1988) and if we get work we will have free skiing there and in the Rocky mountain resorts in Banff and Lake Louise! Well worth it i say. |

Is the Wild About the World site new??
| Wild About the World is now, as Wild About Britain was when it first started. Wild About Britain is a charity started by StuartDH and Wild About the World is a private initiative on his behalf - keeps him busy!!! Look forward to seeing your photos taken in Canada on the WATW site plus any observations you make about Canadian wildlife.

I have requested another one be sent about 4 times now but still haven't got any. I gave the right email address. Seems to be a problem. My husband signed in ok though. I guess i will keep at it till they let me in |

| | | Re: Hi everyone :) i'll try in a minuite and let folk know what transpires.
edit: I just registed and my email came through straight away, no problem - those who were having issues are you sure you ticked the "recieve email from administrators" box because if you didnt that could be the source of the problem
otherwise you could drop stuartdh a pm
it is a shame it cant be set up so wab members are automatically WATW members too but I guess there is a good reason why Stu didnt do it that way
