Hi everyone, I'm new here but fairly keen on the talkphotography forums. I'm very keen on wildlife, especially photography, and country living (even if I don't get too much of it in Wigan).

Hopefully I can add some useful information and no doubt take away a ton here, let the games begin lol.

Hi GS and welcome . You say there is little wildlife in Wigan but it used to be noted for its wild orchids, growing on the spoil heaps. Perhaps they have been cleared away now.

A Wigan native in my office gave me a guide to Wiganese. These are my favourites:

Ah wur fair clemm’t = I was rather hungry

Azzyettenworrizgetten? = Has he eaten what he’s got?

Eenose nowt abartit = He is ignorant of the matter

Ast browtit wi thi? = Have you brought it with you?

Izzed zaw shapes = He has a lumpy skull

Art breighkin um in fer an ‘orse? = Reference to large teeth

Weeaffter guffertbuzz = We must go now, our bus is due

Izmiatonreet? = Is my hat straight?
