| | | Hi Guy's. Registered yesterday and thought, right, now I can find out the identity of that mysterious flower I found growing on a waste lot. Well I was shaken to find that I could not paste the photo on the site, but equally delighted to find that it was there on the Gallery, a beautiful Antirrhinum. That was a great start and I thank you for it.
I am 77 and have just, only just, developed an interest in photographing wild flowers. I have no transport other than the bus and cannot leave my wife for very long anyway. But am finding many precious gems on the various waste lots and vacant sites scattered throughout Hull. I am so happy. Thanks for letting me in. regards Cypher |

| | Re: Hi Guy's. Hello again CYPHER00,how are you storing your photos, have you got a normal 'book' album or are you more up to date than me and store them in your computer ? How many have you got so far, and do you only do flowers ? I'm not a very good photographer and always get someone else to do mine, of course this is no good for snapping something I've come across suddenly, if you know what I mean. Have you been out today ? posie... |

I know you're going to love it here
I joined just a few weeks ago, and have just bought my first DSLR so I'm learning to photograph flowers too (and my only transport is bicycle or bus).
You sound like someone who's found the keys to happiness in finding beauty in unexpected places
Looking forward to seeing your first photos,

| | | Re: Hi Guy's. Hi Guy's. Been too busy to get back, but got in okay today. Posie asks where I store my photo's. Well from long experience at losing the things that matter, I have all my photo's stored on a 4GB USB Key. Ample room for everything that is important to me. I also have a free account on Flickr under the name of Bugambic (the name of an electronics kit I made up years ago). There are some photo's stored on there, but not very many as I have only just started to get serious. I wanted to know which to major on, flowers, dogs, portraits, or what. I think I shall be majoring on Wild Flowers with an emphasis on trying to capture the ones that have insects, bees or whatever, climbing on them or collecting pollen. I think it will be very rewarding. I have only one at present, a Bumble bee collecting pollen from a Tree Mallow flower. I cannot wait to get more shots like this. Just thought you would like to know what I am doing. Regards Cypher |

| | | Re: Hi Guy's. Hey Cypher! welcome mate. Some years ago, I spent weeks feeding and watering a mysterious plant that appeared near our front path. Eventually someone I know who was a bit of a gardener, came to visit us. They swiftly pointed out, that the 'plant' that I was lovingly taking care of, was, in fact a weed! Shows how much I know about gardening lol Wizzo |
