| | | Hello from the North East Coast!
Hi, I'm new to the site and still feeling my way around!
I like what i have seen on the site so far and think it could be quite addicive! There are some super photographers on here and i feel embarrased to put this picture on as it was taken with a mobile phone and is terrible quality but i am keen to find out what species of duck this is. If anyone can help identify it i would be most grateful!!!!! 
The duck had a crest which is not too clear on the picture!  |

Hi lanie, and a warm welcome to WAB. Sorry I can't say what type of duck it is but going by the fact that you say it had a crest I'm going to take a guess at some sort of hybrid. No doubt someonewill be along soon who is more knowlegeable on this than I am.
Enjoy the site, and you are right it is addictive

Thank you both for the warm welcome, i'm sure i'm going to enjoy being a member of this site and i know a few more people who also would be interested so i shall pass on the web address.
Oh just to let you know i have found out what these ducks are, they are Bali Ducks! |

I think it's exactly as you describe him - A White Crested Duck. Take a look at this photo for confirmation. Not a British Native. |

Hi there am new to this site too, some lovely photos I am just a mere amateur but I take great pleasure in getting a good picture out of my Canon Powershot S2. In the Outer Hebrides at the moment brillant bird life... it has rained non stop for 4 days but today finally got to look for the Whooper Swans.
Everyone seems really friendly and positive and I shall certainly be joining in in some of the chat still a bit shy as a lot of you are dab hands at this.
