| | | unknown insect Hi
Can anyone identify this please?
The insect was found on the inside of the window early August. I live on the edge of small market town in Northumberland with open farmland to the front and woodland to the side. Many thanks, Elkayunlimited |

It's one of the largest UK Ichneumon wasps. It's the Sabre Wasp, and Rhyssa persuasoria in Latin.

Thanks for the welcome. I looked them up (once I knew what it was) and they lay their eggs on or beside larvae which are then used as a convenient larder!
Thanks again to everyone |
