| | | Newbie from Cornwall Hi,
This looks like an interesting community.
I live in Cornwall with all the advantages that comes with that, especially wildlife across the spectrum. I'm keen on plants, birds and mammals, but not expert in any of it.
I'm heading for Exmoor this weekend, hoping to see some deer if anyone has any pointers (forgive the pun!). I've seen the dedicated thread, which is how I found this site.
I'm worried that the place will be inundated, given the interest in Autumnwatch and that there is a new BBC prog about Exmoor starting on Friday.
STYS.

A warm welcome to WAB.
It is many years since I last visited either Cornwall or Exmoor but I do recall excellent scenery and some top wildlife. Choughs are now back in your part of the world too!

Welcome to this wounderful place. Only been to Westwood Ho. In 1986.
There were wounderfull rock pools there. I loved. But I'm from Worksop.
You have so many wildlife types down south. Enjoy them, and share your pics with us all.
Best of look with your trip. All the best Kirstie. |

I like the work you are doing at the Red River, very interesting.
I live in Falmouth, work in Truro for the Council (the other one).
Didn't get any joy with the stags on Exmoor, had to go to Lambriggan deer farm this week to see theirs. Unfortunately no CF card in the camera (doh!)

Pete | Hello PeetieM and welcome to WAB.
Sorry I missed your original post, I spend as much time as possible on Exmoor and deer stalking is my passion, next time you go I'll recommend the best places.
Good to see the Janners on board, if we keep this up we'll be able to have a West Country get-together.
Cheers....Chunky |

No probs, we will definitely be back, although we may not stay in Exford next time.
I didn't realise it was such a hotbed of hunting still.
Lovely part of the world and distinctly different from our other 2 regional moors.

Pete. | Yes you're dead right there mate!!
You have to be very carefull what you say, there's really bad feelings boiling away beneath the facade, the hunting issue is still raw!
You're right about the moors, Exmoor seems more temperate, whereas Dartmoor and Bodmin-moor seem more "granity"
All three have their own charm and they give us here in N. Devon great shelter from the winter weather.
