"Diolch" to my Welsh friends!


The wood is something I have dreamt of. It is for conservation purposes. It`s never been managed so I am learning. 7acres of bramble has to be cleared! So I have a lot of work in ahead of me.
I manged to scramble to the edge of it , I had been told before I bought it there were crab apples there,(I love crab apple jelly)
Fell into a ditch twice ,frightened a squirrel (and myself) a Sparrow Hawk flew in front of me ., and I discovered a pretty fungus(no camera )darn it!!

Trees there are Willow Birch,Alder ,Holly ,Oak,Hazel (with nuts)Rowen.

I love trees having planted 7 in my smallish garden 3 Silver Birch, 1 Rowan, 1 Horse Chestnut 1 Oak (in a large pot) and an Ash oh and a Cherry that's 8! There was an apple tree when we moved in 20 yrs ago so that's 9!! actually I nearly have a wood as at the top there is an Elderberry and at least 3 Damson trees plus very mature Ash trees at least 5 I ramble on as you can see I love trees

Me too but the 7acres needs clearing , apatch or two of 7 acres of bramble. I do have a large number of spruce. Love Damson!

Maiden, what a wonderful thing to have [ a wood ] I am sure it will be worth all the hard work you are going to have to put in to make it what you want it to be.

Who knows,you may even get some volunteers from here offering to come help you clear it

Someone told me that people were buying woods as a bit of a tax-dodge.
Come on, own up!

I have to be honest (why?) and admit to not liking woods too much. I always seem to get eaten alive by bugs everytime I go in them with my camera

I thought that was the whole point to conserve wildlife including bugs..
