Hello from Tom - Horwich, Bolton.

Hi there everyone! Just returning to photography after an extended absence and I figured that a site like this would help to motivate me into getting out there in this great country of ours.

I've only just moved over to digital recently, after years of owning film cameras (still got my trusty old F4 and ME-Super). I now have a new kit and I'm all raring to go, so if there's anyone in/around the Bolton area who can give me some tips and encouragement, please do get in touch.

I have a static caravan near the Trough of Bowland so I'm going to spend some time up there. I believe there's quite a variety of wildlife to be photographed all over that region (not to mention fantastic landscapes).

That's an impressive list of kit you have. I'm a Canon man myself but don't hold that against me. Look forward to seeing some of your photographs.

I was born and raised near your part of the world (lived in Atherton for many years) before being exiled to the flatlands of East Anglia 30+ years ago - how I miss the hills

I've spent many happy hours roving around the Rivington/Belmont area and you've some great countryside on your doorstep.

As for the Trough of Bowland - it's one of my favourite areas of England and, with Morecambe Bay on your doorstep, offers the opportunity for some great wildlife/landscape photography.

I look forward to seeing some of your results with that bagful of new kit
