| | | WAB: A fantastic site with beautiful photographs! What a fantastic site this is with some of the most beautiful nature photographs that I have ever seen! I am bowled over by the knowledge and helpfulness of the members here too.
I've been lurking intermittently since January but have only just started posting so I thought it would be polite to introduce myself. My name is Susie and I live in North West London. I am very much a novice when it comes to nature but I am learning a little bit more every day and it gives me so much pleasure. I am constantly surprised by what I find and this fuels my enthusiasm. The best bit is that because they is soooo much to learn it's gonna take a lifetime
Kindest regards to you all. |

I don't even get those dratted Harlequins to my moth trap, although I am sure they will be along soon enough as they are in the area.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome, Paul.

How about some shots of the Peregrines that live in Trafalger square, or the Black Redstarts that inhabit the tops of some of the larger buildings.
Some of these buildings have had their roofs turned into small nature reserves to attract wildlife, I think it was London.
Anyway welcome!! |

What a splendid idea that is, Chunky chambers. I think more buildings should have nature reserves on their roofs - it would make up a little bit for loss of habitat anyway - then again, my ideal idea of a house would be a hobbit hole ... perferably with an orchard and surrounded by woodland .... so what do I know?

| | | Re: WAB: A fantastic site with beautiful photographs! Quite a few buildings (large office blocks &c) in the City have been greened on the roof - think of the vast amount of space up there. But it can be done on a smaller scale: News detail : Groundwork Sheffield Quote: |

| | | Re: WAB: A fantastic site with beautiful photographs! Apart from their value to wildlife 'green' roofing does hold quite a bit of rainfall and therefore stops run-off and flooding. Quote: |
