New to the site but it looks great

Hi Guy's,

I wonder if I can be allowed to join this forum as I'm English but I live in Brittany France, we live on a 47 acre smallholding and one of the things we look after is the wildlife.

My question is can I join the forum?

Hi Brian and welcome to WAB. There are many species found in both Britain and on the continent so I don't see why you should not join. You might also like to check out our sister site Wild About the World. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, under the Contact Us bar you should find Wild About The World, just click and it will take you there.

Hello Brian

Welcome to WAB.

I am not sure what the rules say about ex-pats but you are English and you do live just across the water.

Enjoy the website.

Richard

I've just come back from Brittany - sorry to have missed you! The good thing about going to places like 'la petite Bretagne' is that you recognise *most* of the animals and plants (unlike more exotic places where things are very different) but there are occasional things which you wouldn't see in Grand Bretagne!

Re: New to the site but it looks great

Since we have viewers to the site and forums from all over the world, anyone who is interested in British wildlife can become a member, whatever their nationality - you don't have to live in Britain. But, if you want to tell us about the wildlife in another country, post it on Wild About the World. It would certainly be interesting to hear about Brittany, on the other site, and how it may differ from UK.

Re: New to the site but it looks great

Yes, rules are rules but I think we may be missing out sometimes by excluding items from the nearer continent. Obviously there are very different fauna and flora in the Mediterranean or further afield (although we're increasingly seeing Mediterranean settlers - the bryony ladybird, the rosemary beetle &c) but really British wildlife is just a sub-section of that of NW Europe. It could be useful to know what is found there but not here ....

Re: New to the site but it looks great

Hi Earth Hart,

I think that's what I will do as alot of what I have here is like Devon, so I'll use both sites when I get the time for a good look around.
