| | Back in the Landscape again I'm back in the landscape again after having some health problems but I'm now feeling better, at least better than I was a few weeks ago. While I've been away I've wondered where my life is taking me, it seems that I may be moving to Warwickshire in the next few months, weaving yarns at schools in the local area and possibly on the Newnham Paddox estate.
I know I'll be there over the Autumnal Equinox and on Sunday 24th. "Inspired By Nature" will be taking place there. For more info go to www.education4conservation.org. If you live in the area it would be nice to meet some of you face to face. I'll be weaving yarns about the landscape, the equinox, Badgers and other friends I've known. I've been told that I will have two young helpers, I just hope that they wont be frightened when they set eyes on me with my antlers proud, still they know they are going to be working with a Green Man. There will also be Wolves there, hopefully a beer tent, good food and other things to enjoy. So what ever the weather throws at you come along and join in, it should be a jolly good day. The Estate is wonderful, there is an amazing sculpture park, lakes and ancient trees, some of which I've got to know very well and as I say there should be a beer tent so you'll know where to find me if I'm not weaving.
On another front, I've been asked to submit an application for membership to The Society of Environmental Journalists, based in th USA. Though I'm not a journalist I've been told that what I do is like the old town cryer, so that is to be my user name. It should be fun as I have no editor or owner breathing down my neck so I can say exactly what I feel, great. Especially as I tend to look at the whole picture and go on rants that matter to me. We'll see how the yanks copewith my yarns. I'll keep you informed.
Once again, I hope to see some of you at Newnham Paddox, so, untill next time, go well.

I doubt if I'll be moving before the end of the year, it may happen if there is something on the table when I go in the next two weeks, but even then I have to find a place to live. I do like the area though I'll miss the Levels. By the way, where abouts are you in the summerlands?

One thing to be sure, I'll have my Mead with me, at least until it's been drunk
All the bounty of Autumn to you, my deer

| | | Re: Back in the Landscape again After some years of relative inactivity, it was being diagnosed with type two diabetes back in 1997 that propelled me back into the environment, I quickly wore out a bicyle and wanting to use more environmentally friendy ways to get out by train and bus (rather than car) so invested in a Brompton folding bike a spin off from this is that a few of the rgular passengers on the the trains that I worked on (I was a conductor) found out about my adventures and soon I found myself writing little journals about my rides and passing them on. No profit other than satisfaction, but it was surprising how many people were encouraged to get out and about. It did help that the route I worked along was through mostly beautiful countryside across South Cheshire, Shropshire and Herefordshire and what was perhaps as important was that I was able to show them that they could do it without using their cars. |
