I'm sure I remember some of these things getting a very bad review on BirdForum a couple or three years ago, but the technology might have improved since then.

| | | Re: Hello - twitter woo's new too! Upset, shocked and amazed all at the same time today. Was watching the birds on the feeder when, from nowhere, came a flash of a brown bird and whipped a greenfinch right off the feeder. I think from the size of it, it must have been a kestral (about the size as a pigeon, lean, brown with slimish wings). He was very very agile as he had to turn from the ground, miss the conservatory and up over the house in a split second. It all happened so quickly but was amazing to see. Poor finchy! Nature can be very hard. |

| | | Re: Hello - twitter woo's new too! that'll be a Sparrowhawk twitter - that description's far too fast and agile for Kestrel.
Its what Sparrowhawks specialise in - fast approach and agile pick, often through dense trees.
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: Hello - twitter woo's new too! Yeah, thats nature! We had a Hawthorn hedge at the back of our place. When we took It down we left 1 bush next 2 the birdtable, so the birds could dive into it when the Sparrow Hawk came 2 call. Imagine r amazement 2 watch one last year actually struggling through thru the prickly branches after some tasty Blue Tits. Luckily It took some time, so the Tits managed 2 fly off! |
