Just spending a bit of time finding my way around the site/forum ... have recently moved up from Sussex to Northamptonshire, and took a bit of getting used to at first, but now finding that there is a whole host of wildlife here that I didn't see in Sussex. Seems to be masses of reservoirs around here, so whilst I miss being near the sea in Sussex, the amount of watery places I can visit more than makes up for it, and am enjoying learning about the various waterfowl, etc. Lovely to be fairly near to the Red Kites of Rockingham Forest, and great seeing so many Kestrels about ... I don't think I've ever seen so many as there are in Northamptonshire!
I also love photography, but birds are proving a bit difficult as they won't keep still for long enough! I always take my camera out and about with me, sometimes instead of binonculars, quite often just for identification purposes ... if I happen to see something I don't recognise, flower, fungi, etc ... I snap it, then google when I get back home .. especially good for birds in the distance which I can snap, and then zoom into later on my pc in some attempt to find out what they are!
This looks like a really friendly site, so looking forward to posting here! |

It is a Running red spider which is feeds on pollen which has blown oto the brickwork. |

They seem to travel fast but they are very small so can't go too far. Don't forget that 'red spider mite' is something different - it is a plant pest and is much better known than the mites that we have. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
