A warm welcome to WAB.
I am pleased that you have decided to sign up. Although WAB looks a bit daunting at first to find your way about, you will soon get the hang of it. If in doubt, just ask .... there is always someone here that is willing to help.
Enjoy the website.

| | Re: Hello !! Welcome to the site. They are a right friendly and knowledgeable lot here as I have found out in the week since I joined.
"Just shout" if you need help they say. It doesn't work - you have to type in a little box and press oodles of keys. If I can manage it you will. |

| | | Re: Hello !! This time last year that particular patch of my garden in the photo was my vegetable plot..and i was fed up of weeding it and as i had a lot of herbs i just thought i would turn the whole lot into a herb ?wildflower patch my front garden is similar..so i had some mullein and foxgloves to plant out so i dug a pond in the middle..and just planted round it and added ox eye daisys and grasses..Then in march this year i just threw 4 packets of mixed wildflower seeds on it..one for birds..one for butterflys one for cornfield and one for hedgerow and it all just came up as a mass of flowers..The pond is a bit scruffy it only cost me £5 i lined it with an old carpet and a liner i bought from a sale for £5 and edged it with old tree trunks and twigs etc..and its allready full of frogs..and a mouse lives under the wood..Here is the pond it was just my base to plant round and outwards.. |

| | | Re: Hello !! No the frogs dont mind it being shabby..they like it.. some ponds cost a fortune and i didnt want to spend a lot and also i still needed it to be natural to fit in..my digging isnt great as its lopsided..I have since added my bog loving plants to the edges..Meadowsweet..purple loosestrife and butterbur..and i have also added a creeping jenny and some ivys..I shall be making another patch of my garden similar this week without the pond as its just a narrow strip..and its up the back fence area and i thought it would be nice to copy the patch..I have allready got some plants i have grown ready to plant out..i still have loads of gardening to do before the cold gets here ..Most of this years flowers are self seeding so they will emerge somewhere ..the birds are pecking at them like they have never been fed..so i may have to buy more seed for the spring..I do feed the birds daily and i guess a lot of my plants are what they survive on so i cant grumble... |
