Hello from Liverpool.

Hello all,
I have been 'playing' in a friends garden which is 80 x 60 feet.
It is completely grown over with brambles, nothing else. It is also north facing.
I am going to attempt to grow vegetables in it, but also, make it wildlife friendly.
So, I am thinking of getting a pair of binoculars, maybe off ebay.
What sort of magnification will do for watching the birds ? Thanks,

Celt.

Celt

Go for either 8 or 10 x 40 don't be tempted by the high magnification zoom type. See recent threads which suggest a couple of types which are well priced.

Re: Hello from Liverpool.

Hi celt, welcome to WAB!

Binoculars are always specified by two numbers e.g. 10x40, where the first number is the magnification. The second number is the diameter of the objective lens, and I have been told that for bird watching that number needs to be at least four times the magnification i.e. 8x40 and 10x40 are OK, but 8x25 wouldn't be very good.
