I'm new.

Hello there. My name is Scott & I am new here. I live in the southwest and I have a passion for frogs and small garden birds, especially robins, finches and tits. I actively help frogs, by helping them cross roads in late winter / early spring, and I actively raise awareness for frogs and the importance of garden spaces.

Hiya Digifrog, welcome and well done you! I've helped toads (mainly) and frogs across the road in the village I live in, bless em. I'm sure you'll love it on here, share any questions you have with us and we'll have the answer; and have a good laugh in the meantime!

Re: I'm new.

Hi and Welcome, Digifrog.

You can actually find some useful information on this site (if you persist)
I am a great fan of the smaller birds too. Much more appealing than those big, gangly waders
cheers
IanJ
PS. Do you really help frogs cross roads? I have not heard of that before.

Jules, Jules, Jules .... and you go on about MY jokes!

A warm welcome to WAB, Scott - I'm sure you'll love it here, even with Jules' woeful sense of humour ....

In fact I wrote some of her jokes on a piece of paper and gave it to a frog once ... he gave it a cursory glance and then handed it back. I said "That didn't take long!" and he replied "Reddit"

Okay, I'm going now, back to my darkened room ....

Re: I'm new.

Thank you all v much. . Just to answer a few queries. Hi to Cherrybee & Beryl, I live in North Bristol/South Glos. Hi to Dan Salter, ach, I'm not so young, I am 37 and my fondness for frogs is the soft side of my personality (not that I have a hard side ). I care for frogs' welfare, but I do have many intrests. I'll put those in my profile at some point. Hi to IanJ, oh yes, it's an annual thing. In Bristol, from mid-february to the end of march some roads are closed to traffic (near Bath mainly) and locals and other volunteers help with the mass froggy migration, all organised by the Avon Wildlife Trust. Of course this happens up & down the country by their respective local wildlife trusts, so please take part. However, it's a great idea but am not to fond of picking up frogs etc. Not because I don't like touching them, but because I don't like to stress them. But all in all it's good for them so I don't mind. The ones in my garden I like to watch but I leave them alone so their hearts dont skip a beat.
So thank you all again, very kind & I hope to talk with you all at some point.

Hi again, Scott,

That is quite amazing. I will have to find out if anything similar occurs around the Milton Keynes area. Incidentally, I am thinking about putting a pond into our back garden for dragons and damsels - perhaps I should also consider the amphibian apect as well!
Had a look at the website. Most enlightening. Thanks.
cheers
Ian

Re: I'm new.

Welcome scott, its a great site. we have all learnt fromm one another, i think
I was born in Chipping Sodbury, lived there for 23 years, which is very close to your neck of the woods judging by the descriptions given. Great news of the frog work, an unsung hero.

Dan, great words assuming scott was young and in an effort to get the hip young vote you called for a high five, my god that ages you!!!!
you dont have children do you? if i was to do that to one of mine i get shot a filthy look esp in public!!
