Hi Jim, welcome to the site. I know nothing about spotting scopes, so I can't help with advice on that, but I'm sure you will get lots of other advice from other members.

Hope you enjoy being a part of this very friendly site.

Debs xx

The body was about £400 as it was the 'ED' model. The 28x eye piece I got with it was worth £149, then I forked out another £169 for a 18-54x eyepiece. Then there was the tripod - another £100. Alot of money, but I'll never need to buy another one......unless I drop it! If you got any money left I'd also say to get one of those carbon fibre tripods. Mines aluminium & can get I bit heavy.......not that I'm a wimp or anything. I chose mine from a survey in one of bird watching mags a few years ago where they compared similar ones against each other & rated them. Hope I've been some help.
