I'm just 8miles from you in Ancaster and am doing just that on a fair scale really.
Take a look at my thread which i've just started on my garden, and the sort of plants/weeds/flowers i'm after which are all good for birds, bees and nutterflies My (not yet) Wildlife garden...
Also in the birds section.. Quick read on creating a natural food source in the garden.
