Welcome Stewart, enjoy WAB.
Once went diving in a moorland quarry lake just off the B6318 near Haltwhistle. Crystal clear water, full of fish & frogs. a magic place.
Probably used by the Romans to extract stones for the wall.
Nice part of the country you've got there.

Hi Stewart,
And a warm welcome from me,
My wife and I walked the wall a good few years ago an enjoyed every minute of it, Mithras temple, Housteads, we done part of the walk the day before it opened as a National Trail , they were puting up the marquee at the start,
stayed at Saughy Rig, straight up from the farmhouse is the trig point , highest point on the wall.
