| | Hi Everyone, What a brilliant site, found it by accident following a link from RiverCottage forums about mushrooms.
Was going to get on with some work but it looks like I'll be having another cuppa and a good look round here first. |

Hi touchwood and welcome to WAB, were a friendly lot on here so if you have any questions just ask and someone will help you out, so sit back with your cuppa and enjoy.

I agree with Hedge Witch & Morph. Since discovering WAB, I've probably spent more time browsing the site than going out finding real wildlife.
Get posting your queries - you'll find many many people eager to share their knowledge with you.
Regards
Mike.

Mike. | I often wonder about that, Mike! How do some of actually find the time to seek it out for real??
Hi there Touchwood. And welcome to the addict's board! Yup, I think you're right, your namesake was a pet toad of Wurzel's. Do you remember his reference to the "telling-bone"? Great stuff....
Have fun!

Many thanks for clearing that one up, I wasn't too sure about the worzle Gumage thing and as soon as you mentioned Catweazle it clicked.
Can't recall the reference to the telling bone though, I'll be looking that up on the net next, you've got me going now,
Thanks again, |

D. | Sorry for the delay in responding to this Dutchess - I was out all day yesterday looking for wild flowers & fungi. - You just have it to do.
( The fact that I didn' find too much of interest notwithstanding. ).
Wecome again Touchwood - get posting.
Regards
Mike.

No it's not derived from tourchwood although I do like that as well. Not sure where it came from originally, but whenever I see a toad in the garden I say "Hello touchwood" (I'm not really mad). Have a vague recollection it might be something to do with Worzle Gummage the childrens programme, (now I'm showing my age.)think he had a pet toad or something. Strange how simple things stick in the mind. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Hybrid Mode |
