| | Hi everyone Hi,
i've kept an interest in garden birds since i was a young lad,i've not long moved house and in doing so the first thing i done was set up the bird table and feeders. So far there has been a lot of interesting birds turning up from blue tits, great tits, long tailed tits, chaffinch, greenfinch, great spotted woodpecker, coal tit,and my favourite of all the goldfinch,i would really like to incourage bullfinches to come in to my garden.Does anyone no what they like to eat appart from pear and apple buds. |

| | | Re: Hi everyone Thanx for the reply's,does anyone know if shropshire is a good area for bullfinches?.The bird which i have not seen for many years is the yellow hammer,i take it they must be on the decline The magpie population is not helping much to our garden birds ,as well as intense farming. But at least im doing my bit to help them through winter,to keep a steady population of garden birds make through to nxt spring.Plus my little son like's watching them through the kitchen window. |

| | | Re: Hi everyone Thanks so far so good, when i was living down in south wales a place called Llantwit major, not far from the seven channel. I struggled for 2 years to try and attract as many garden birds as possible, the only birds i ever managed to attract to my garden was the occasional blue tit and robin i must have been in a blank spot or something, however i did get plenty of starlings which use to hammer my fat balls . |

| | | Re: Hi everyone Bullfinches are really getting scarce now. In the early 1980's there was a population of around 800,000. In 2008 it is estimated to be around 160,000 so a big dicline.
They love hedgerows. The last time I saw some was in Horsham at the Warnham nature reserve on the feeders. |
