| | | Hello from the North Downs! Hey!
I hope there's room for yet another newbie here! Just wanted to say a quick hello to you fine forum folk now that I've plucked up the courage to join. Although I work in London, I've made the conscious decision to live outside London near Dorking, which is in the North Downs. The main reason for doing this was to enjoy the wildlife it offers, as well as the peace and quiet. Although my main occupation is in weather forecasting, Britain's wildlife comes a close second. With Autumnwatch just around the corner, this seemed a great time to dive in! Be gentle

| | | Re: Hello from the North Downs! Thanks for the welcomes everyone I can see that I'm going to be spending more time than is probably healthy on here, but never mind! I was having some difficulties uploading an image (webpage kept expiring) but for some reason it worked on about the 10th attempt.

Sylv | I was born and brought up in Wye! - Spent hours as a child roaming the downs - I was convinced it was where "watership down" was set! (geography never being my thing.......!)
Have you ever been on the downs that way Brenners?

Shar | Nope, I've not made it that far east yet. I'm gradually walking the entire North Downs Way (not all at once) and have so far made it from Farnham in the west as far as Redhill. One of the reasons I find the Downs so amazing is that they're literally surrounded by urban areas, particularly in Surrey, and yet still maintain a largely unspoilt outlook
