| | unknown growth While dead heading my roses today I noticed a growth on one of them can you identify it for me and should I do anything to prevent it spreading.
While looking at the attatched photos I noticed some insects are they connected to the growth
The rose variety is Valentine.

| | | Re: unknown growth looks like the gall caused by the wasp Diplolepis rosae the gall is otherwise known as Robins pincushion. but again..... wait for an expert.

| | | Re: unknown growth This is one of the few galls to have earned two common names - the Bedeguar Gall or Robin's Pin-cushion. Caused by the gall wasp Diplolepis rosae. Apparently bedeguar means 'wind-borne'.
