Hi Clive.
Nuthatch just goes into bird photography. There isn't a sub category for Nuthatch

It can be up to 24 hrs for photos to be approved. Just depends how busy the Gallery editors are, remembering that they are all volunteers but it's usually much quicker than that.

Keywords are for example if you loaded a photo of a Chaffinch with the title
Chaffinch - Fringilla coelebs. Take note the title has to be in the format I have typed it. Then the keywords would be the same but without the dash, example. Chaffinch Fringilla coelebs and any other relevant words that might apply to the photograph. Just leave a space between any keywords.

as to your queries not to sure myself but if you upload it into the bird catagory you will be alright as to how long it takes to be approved can depend on how busy the mods are normally 24 hours to be approved hope this helps out,keywords are words that can make finding the subject ,,,like Nuthatch then its scientific name also so some thing along the lines of Nuthatch - Sitta europaea

Hi, make sure it's saved for the web and when uploading make it larger than 860px (I think) on one side.

I think it needs to be wider than this regardless of the height (make sure you tick "constrain proportions" when resizing so that you dont stretch your picture.

How do you find the lens? Isn't that the relatively new Sigma version? Not read too many reviews on it as yet, but it looks interesting. Obviously doing the trick for you so far!

Yes it is the new version I also got the 1.4 and x2 converters

I’m only a novice I find it easy to use

Excellent. Glad you like it. There will be plenty of people interested to see how you get on with it (particularly with the converters!), it'd be great if you could post a few more pics along with your thoughts on the photography section whenever you get chance

I’m trying to capture some action shots at a motor cycle race this weekend and I’ll be out and about when we get a good day
