| | | hi from a Durell fan of huge proportions! hi there, new to this site and really pleased to find it!
i have been an amateur naturalist since the age of 11 - im now 31 and every year my love for all forms of nature gets bigger and bigger.
i have been a Gerald Durrell fan for as long also and have all his books and love all the work he did and the work that is still being done at Durrell in Jersey and around the world.
i live in the stunning county of Dorset and walking goes hand in hand with my of my hobby of nature watching/studying.
i am lucky to live a mere half hour or so from the jurrasic coast and i walk frequently on the coast path.
recently i just saw pyramindal and bee orchids and whilst crawling around taking photos of the flowers i also saw a perfect adder skin which i brought home after carefully taking it from its place in amongst the thistles on the chalk downland.
i have 2 children who love nothing more than exploring the Dorset contryside and they - like me- are crazy about fossil hunting.
nature is part of me, wihout nature my life would not have the daily wonderment that me and my children live for.
Durrell remarks that we are very lucky as others grow older and loose the sense of excitement and wonderment - us amateur naturalists never do as each day brings something wonderful to smile and and be excited about - a sunset, a bird song, a fern you notice growing from a drainpipe in the middle of a city - i could go on and on..
i look forward to exploring and taking part in these forums
