| | | Hello from a first-time wildlife gardener Hello everyone!
I'm SO glad to be joining this amazing community!
My husband and I always loved wildlife but this is the first time we're able to have a (small) house with a (small) garden, which already has a number of birds, squirrels and insects visiting the place regularly. We're moving into this house on wednesday the 25th and I cannot be more excited as it will be my birthday too
I know I've got a lot to learn about wildlife gardening and I'm looking forward to exchange ideas, tips and cute pictures with you all.
Here's a pic of our garden: |

Your garden definitely has potential, and you've come to the right place to find out how to get the best out of it . Any questions, just ask.
All the best from another Cancerian

The previous owner of the house is a bird lover and she even left us a nice note giving information on the birds and how to feed them. She kept the garden very bird friendly with fruit plants, tree for shelter, spikey plants to repel cats, covered waterbutts, window adhesives, etc. We've got two bird feeders, a tray and a bird bath.
I'm dying to find out if I can atract a hedgehog to our garden, that would be simply wonderful! I don't know what my chances are though... I live in South Yorkshire, in a semi-rural small village. |

Your garden looks very nice Marcia.
There is a wab members garden thread on the wildlife gardening forum. You could post on there and look at other members gardens as well for ideas.
I have posted a link. WAB Members' Garden Photos

we moved into our first home 2 years ago. still haven't go it sorted yet!
i hope you have a lovely time in your garden. if you wanted to grow things to make the animals and buggs happy how about wild flowers? look at what is native to your area and gather the seads alo bug mix from the local shops will give you plants the bees and animals will like and you cann't go wrong with a budligha ( i think thats how its spelt) butterflies love the stuff.
we've planted a lot of vegtables so we can go all good life! loss of the good patch of grass but ah well. the bugs seem to like the veg and i plant sympathetically so no bug repelant used. its worked so far.
i really hope you have fun getting everything the way you like it. the picture looks like its a good sized garden go for it!! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Hybrid Mode |
