| | Robins Hi,
Anyone out there knowledgeable about the behavior of Robins? Whenever I put food out on the bird table the robins are always first to arrive. If I leave the door or windows open they fly into the house. How is it that these birds are so unafraid when most small garden birds are so timid???? I'd love to know.
Cheers

| | | Re: Robins Hi from me too Robins seem to have figured out that some of us friendly human types are a good source of food. They often follow gardeners around as they turn over the ground and unearth lovely bugs n grubs n worms n stuff They will be very brave if they learn that you are no threat and that you are willing to feed them! |

| | Re: Robins Hi and welcome to WAB,
I think it is because of their involvement with people like gardeners who throw them bugs and worms and the young birds learn by watching the parents , they learn to trust humans and accept them ,
I have a couple of Blackbirds that trust me , they come to my feet when I'm sitting and I give them their treat of sultannas, but make no mistake, they are still wild birds and should be respected as such , enjoy their company and treasure the experience,
All the best,

| | | Re: Robins Hi Folks,
Thanks for replies. Of all the birds that visit my bird table these little creatures demonstrate such bravery for their size. But maybe they have just come to accept that my back garden is safe and I am no threat and wow that is such a privilege!!
