Hello From Staffordshire

Hello folks, Allow me to introduce myself, the name's Jim. I a southerner from the Isle of Sheppey in Kent now living in Staffordshire. I'm interested in all types of wildlife but mainly birds and taking photos of them. Only got into it all since retiring as a publican 3 years ago.

I found this site by accident, it certainly covers a whole range of wildlife. The camera gear I have is a Nikon D70 with a Sigma 50x500 lens but thinking of going over to a Canon set up, anyone there to advise me if that is a good idea or not.

Well that's my life history, I look forward to participating and bombarding you with comments and photos.

There are loads of Canon supporters on here so you will probably get a lot of people recommending such a switch!

I think Nikon and Canon are both very similar in terms of quality and capabilities and unless you don't mind spending a lot of money changing over all your lenses, accessories, etc. it's probably not worth it though? Let us know what you decide and welcome to the site

Welcome to the site Jim.
I have to agree with GME regarding the Nikon and Canon being very similar, capability wise, so why don't you consider upgrading your camera to perhaps the Nikon D300 that way all the Nikon equipment you now have can be used with this camera. Changing to Canon means you have to start from scratch.

Just a thought!!
