Good to hear from you - yes, it was fantastic to see the Monkey orchids doing so well! It seems like an age since we were last there volunteering!
We didn't realise what a fast pace of life there is in Kent, until we moved West. They know how to chill out here in Bris'ol! Fortunately, the Garden of England has as you say, all those tranquil, diverse wildlife habitats to escape to. I love chalk habitats too...got my fix at Pewsey Downs NNR in Wiltshire just last weekend!

Hi Nightshade - Thanks for telling us about that! I've just dashed to my copy of the Observer - and seen the story! But, I'm really confused....coz the picture looks like a Bee orchid to me! I've looked at some pics of the Woodcock orchid online and it looks different from the lady's photo! There doesn't seem to be any confirmation from anyone like English Nature in the article....and it does look very, very like a Bee orchid to me (but I'm probably totally missing something!) |
