What a strange and wonderful thing to find in your garden sheila! Somebody local is probably looking for it.

| | | Re: Hi there, needing help to identify bird! I think it is a touraco, tho ours had a white line across its chest, unlike some pics I've seen on the interweb. Well done Baggy for getting it on description alone!
thanks very much everyone, mystery solved. I shall inform the local paper to see if anyone's lost it, tho we haven't seen it since Friday afternoon (binocs permanently in the kitchen atm )
and again, thanks so much for the warm (and informed) welcome! I made a small pond in the garden 3 or 4 yrs ago to attract and support wildlife (we now have breeding newts, tho only the common variety, and frogs), so will doubtless be on the website again with queries and seeking advice! Ain't people nice!
regards

| | | Re: Hi there, needing help to identify bird! Hello and welcome to WAB, Sheila. You've got off to a good start! What a lovely looking bird, it certainly grabbed peep's attention, didn't it ?
You'll find it's friendly here, but it can become addictive....so watch out.
Enjoy.

| | | Re: Hi there, needing help to identify bird! Whilst Googling, I came across a site called touracos.co.uk. (But I have a sneaky feeling we are not permitted to post direct links here?) Anyway, you'll be able to find it without too much trouble. The guy (based in Glos) may be interested in hearing about this sighting, if nothing else?
