| | Just to say hello & introduce myself [ Hi there everyone. Yes, another person who's just mad about snow! Am originally from Down Under and never got to see snow there (except in the mountainous areas) so I get very excited whenever I get to see any of it over here. Unfortunately though, living in Swindon, Wiltshire, we don't seem to get it often, although we did have about four centimetres back in February - oh that was so exciting! I have a strong feeling we will get some again this winter - certainly hope so. |

a warm welcome to WAB, I have to admit to loving snow when I was young, these days I prefer cold crisp mornings without the snow. Looking forward to your posts and photos. Love photos of snow.
Carol.

Anyway, enjoy the site and I look forward to your posts! |

| | | Re: Just to say hello & introduce myself hi Snowhound backwhen i was a lad we used to get plenty it would stick around for a good time to besides how abused it got by sledging, snow ball fights skildding making big snow men etc. AAh those were the days free Holidays for the young to have fun.He needed holiday resorts. Sadly snow is wearing thin in the uk but i'm glad you buzz off it. Get rid of the Christmas comercial tac outside lighting 6ft USA style Santas. Drop ST.Nick as Pedophile and snow will be good as, for illuminating the Winter Season

| | | Re: Just to say hello & introduce myself Hi Naturelover and everyone else out there. Thanks for your kind posts - what a lovely welcome to the site! Close guess Naturelover - I am from New Zealand. Been here just over five years now. Snowy winters certainly seem to be a thing of the past, but will be interesting to see whether we get one of those Hale Winters I've heard people talking about. Some say one's due this winter. Who knows. If so, we're bound to see some snow. Quote:

Welcome to WAB.
I love cold, snowy, blue sky days too .... but I think we will need to emigrate to see many now.
Boo hiss to warm, grey, drizzly so-called winter days!

| | | Re: Just to say hello & introduce myself Hi Snowhound, welcome to the wonderful world of WAB. Am pleased to meet & greet you! Hope you get your wish, but we dont seem to get very much snow these days, (could it be global warming, I don't know??). It certainly snowed more & lasted for much longer when I was a kid. It seems to have got milder here, during the last 15-20 years & the weather is certainly more unpredictable?
Hope you enjoy the site, have fun, see you on the boards. |

| | | Re: Just to say hello & introduce myself Hi Clover Green,
Thanks for your warm welcome. Yes the world's weather patterns certainly do seem to have changed (and are still changing) and whether it's to do with global warming - who knows. Some scientists say it is - others say it's normal for the world to undergo natural climatic changes and that it has been doing so for millions of years. What I am wondering, is what effect the slowing down of the Gulf Stream will have on Britain and Europe. Again, some say it will eventually shut down and plunge Britain and parts of Europe into a mini ice age - others say not. If it does happen, we will certainly have to make some rather big adaptations. The world's climate does indeed appear to have become more unpredictable with more frequent storms, floods and droughts. My uncle writes to me regularly from my homeland of New Zealand, and the weather there seems more bizarre than it used to be. And not so long ago, people in Queenstown saw great icebergs floating in the ocean (some as big as houses!) which had obviously broken off from Antarctica. Now that's certainly a first! So the climate is definitely heating up for some reason or another. Snowhound |
