Hallo from Cork, Ireland

HI , I have just joined in. I have been looking for somewhere to get information about Rats, burrows etc and found this site.
I live in the countryside and have been turning a couple of small fields into garden for the past 3 years. One area is devoted to wild life with lots of berried trees/shrubs and a very small pond as a drinking place. I love bird watching and this area serves my interest really well. Pleased to meet you all.

Re: Hallo from Cork, Ireland

thank you oh Commander!
I have a website about my garden and I will put the URL ; however if this is not allowed please delete it.
A SMALL IRISH GARDEN&lt
It is called ' A small Irish garden' which refers to my previous garden in Dublin and there is a link to all I have been doing here in Cobh.
I look forward to enjoying this site and am pleased to have found it.

Hello Elizabeth,

Welcome to the site!

What you have achieved in your garden is so impressive! It looks fab, and it was only a field a couple of years ago. Amazing. A couple of details struck me - I loved the use of whole tree trunks to edge beds, that looks really effective with the gravel, and there are several photos that show a deep red plant with strap-like leaves. It's really striking - what plant is it?

Re: Hallo from Cork, Ireland

Thanks so much for the welcome
Emma , the plant you mentioned is probably a red Phormium. I find them great as they give colour during the winter.

Re: Hallo from Cork, Ireland

Hello and welcome to the site Elizabeth. Your garden sounds just lovely and also wonderful for the environment. Nice to hear of places being made for wildlife for a change as so much of the world is destroying natural habitats.
