As for special interests, apart from studying wildlife, I'm a dedicated angler - mainly for carp - and I enjoy reading, writing, and resisting the combined efforts of my dog and three sons to drive me insane. 
My day job keeps me seriously busy, so I enjoy my time outdoors all the more, especially the overnighters, where sleeping outdoors brings a whole new dimension to being there.
