| | | Hello from Mansfield Hi all,
I'm John a disabled (leftarm no use after head injury) electrician, now wannabe photographer.
This year my goals are to photograph a Badger (never even seen a live one), kingfisher and a native snake.
Also will be returning to the Farne Isles, Gigrin Farm and Formby.
If anyone knows of good sites for my target species I'd love to hear from them.
Also, anyone in my area wanting to share travel costs are more than welcome to contact me.
Best Regards
John |

| | | Re: Hello from Mansfield Hi John, Welcome to WAB from someone right on your doorstep..
I've been trying to get Kingfisher shots for ages, seen plenty; shots 0!
Attenborough Nature Reserve definitely has Kingfishers; the Delta area is often the favourite.
Good luck with all your targets, they're pretty ambitious ones, but what the heck, not much point setting out to get a blackbird or a robin, you'd be done in half an hour.. |

Very best of luck with your photography.
I do not know your area of the world so unfortunately can not advise on your target species.
The Farne Islands, Gigrin Farm and Formby I do know and since you mention a return visit you are already aware of how good these areas are.

| | | Re: Hello from Mansfield Welcome to WAB John. Hope you enjoy the boards and achieve your wildlife goals.
There are fantastic photographers on the boards and they all help and give good advice. One day, when I eventually get a 'good' camera, I shall be picking their brains constantly, but I know they'll all be patient with me and that is just one of the reasons why this site is so good. Happy posting WW |

| | | Re: Hello from Mansfield hello John. Welcome to WAB. Hope you get to reach your targets. Im from Worksop. Only seen a Kingfisher twice in five years along Chesterfield Canal. Last Badger i seen was light at night at Derby railway station. I asked the station staff if i was seeing things. They said no. It happens now and then. He told me they lived in old railway sidings near there. The only snake ive seen locally was at Codnor Park early in the morning. basking in the morning sun.

Welcome to WAB John. Hope you find your kingfishers - been watching our local pair for nearly 2 years, not one decent shot, but hundreds of happy memories!
